Church History

Established 1952 in Kents Store, VA where the current Canaan Soul Saving Station is today, The Burning Bush Holy Church was founded by Elder Lee Hughston and Deacon Thurston Hughston.

Elder Hughston had a vision to keep the Burning Bush“burning”, so she moved to Columbia in 1961, in the little building that which still stands today on Stage Junction Rd (Rt. 659).  The congregation at the time was about 15 parishoners.

In 1966, the current Burning Bush was built and consecrated on May 12, 1966.  She pastored until her health began to decline in 1986.  Elder Hughston passed away April 12, 1992.  The church went dormant after her sickness, but like the prophecy that was given to her "Son", Pastor Harris answered the call to Ministry and began to Pastor in September 1999.
